Direct Purchasing
Direct Purchasing is responsible for the procurement of all commodities, used in the manufacture of products at Bosch Australia. Commodities including electronic components, plastic housings, aluminium castings, raw materials, sub assemblies are only some examples of a wide range of commodities which fall under Direct Purchasing.
Direct Purchasing is by far the largest area of Bosch Australia's purchasing activities and quality requirements are stringent.
Project Purchasing
Robert Bosch Australia has recognised the need to developed a department that manages the smooth introduction of new externally supplied product. Each buyer is responsible for the procurement of all parts that make up each new fully assembled product. Project purchasing works closely with direct purchasing to select suppliers in line with purchasing sourcing strategies.
Once PPAP approval has been granted the responsibility for the components is given to the respective direct buyer.
Within this department there are also project quality engineers and current production quality engineers. The departments role is to develop quality into products at the design phase and then support quality through the life of the product.
Indirect Purchasing
Indirect Purchasing is responsible for the procurement of goods and services other than trading goods and materials directly used in the manufacture of products at Bosch.
e.g. capital equipment, factory & office consumables, utilities, services.
