Fuel Filters

Fuel Filters

The Fuel Filter provides a snapshot of the overall condition of a vehicles fuel system. The average vehicle circulates the entire contents of its fuel tank twice every hour through the filter. On average that’s 6000 litres of fuel per annum. Therefore the overall quality of the filter is vital to provide cleanliness and durability.

Why replace a fuel filter?

Since K-Jetronic was introduced in 1974, Bosch Fuel Filters have protected the finely machined components. Fuel distributor heads and control pressure regulators with their micron fine tolerances and complex valving arrangements, need superior protection against foreign material and water that enter the vehicle fuel system. Bosch filters are also designed to withstand the higher operating pressures found within the K/KE Jetronic, typically as high as 6.5 bar (650 kpa / 100psi). The double folded seams, high quality connections and strengthened housing, all contribute to a superior product.

Modern engine management systems are equipped with injector valves that have precise machined valve / seat surfaces and are often made of state of the art materials that require a fuel system that is free from contaminates. Bosch as a leading manufacturer of fuel injectors worldwide, is aware of the filtration levels required to protect these components. Other components such as rail submerged pressure regulators now have finer orifices and smaller valving, all of this means that fuel system cleanliness is more crucial.

Filter efficiency depends on the through-flow direction. When replacing in-line filters, it is imperative that the flow direction given by the arrow is observed.
