Russell Ingall and the Supercheap team went into the new
season with a new team manager, a new engineer, new supporting staff including
a new team-mate, new sponsors and a fresh outlook as the Queensland-based Paul
Morris Motorsports (PMM) team left its topsy-turvy 2010 season behind.
Ingall was buoyed by a strengthening of PMM’s technical
alliance with V8 Supercar Championship-winning Triple Eight Race Engineering as
well as with Steve Robertson joining PMM as team manager.
Experienced engineer Mark Fenning has moved from Jim Beam
Racing to take over as engineer on Ingall’s #39 SCAR Commodore.
Two-time and reigning Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series Champion
Steve Owen also joined as Ingall’s team-mate, driving a second PMM Commodore
sponsored by VIP Petfoods.
Team owner Paul Morris said a number of decisions made after
a full internal review of a difficult 2010 season now had his team in its best
position in years.
Supercheap Auto begins its fourth year of sponsorship of
PMM, joined by Castrol, Holden, Stanley, Sirromet, Bosch, Century Batteries,
Master Lock, 3M, Goldcross Cycles, and leading restaurant chain Hungry Jack’s,
which joined the team in late 2010.
