Clayton, Australia – The Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the way we live, work, and get around — homes are becoming smarter, factories more connected, and mobility is taking on a fundamentally different form.
Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, is constantly expanding its position as an IoT company to enable a smarter future. Bosch expects the global IoT market to grow by 35 percent per year to reach an annual volume of 250 billion U.S. dollars by 2020. These predictions have prompted the company to pursue ambitious goals, and it is now aiming to have internet connectivity in all its electronic devices by that time. Moreover, data-based services will be offered for each device, with artificial intelligence set to play a key role. By 2025, Bosch aims to equip, produce or develop all products with artificial intelligence.
Bosch Australia demonstrated its connectivity solutions for living, moving and manufacturing #LikeABosch at IoT Impact 2019. IoT Impact is the only Australian IoT conference driven by the industry. The conference is hosted by IoT Alliance Australia (IOTAA), the peak industry body working to accelerate the adoption of IoT across the Australian economy and society.
Addressing IoT readiness
During the course of the two-day conference and expo, over 100 speakers informed business and technology executives from sectors such as Food & Agribusiness, Water, Health, Smart Cities, Transport/Logistics, Energy & Manufacturing on the future of IoT and its impact on business outcomes. Australian Regional President for Bosch Vehicle Safety Systems, Chris Woods, was a panelist for the topic on Integrated mobility and managing congestion. Chris addressed the question of how to tackle this problem while introducing new technologies and models for electric, autonomous, and shared public transport.
Bringing connectivity to life at IoT Impact 2019
More than 40 exhibitors showcased the ways in which industry, government and communities are seizing the IoT opportunity for today and the future. Bosch Australia demonstrated its “Invented for Life” ethos at IoT Impact with a diverse range of connected applications to make life easier.
ebikes Smartphone Hub
The new Bosch ebikes ‘Smartphone Hub’ is set to hit the Australian market early next year and integrates a smartphone into the eBike system. The Smartphone Hub connects the rider to navigation, music streaming, hands free phone calls and weather forecasts, and enables the user to lock and immobilise the eBike. It also uploads ride and fitness data to apps such as Apple Health and Strava.
Home Connect System - wifi enabled Home Appliances
The Bosch Home Connect system will change the way we live by enabling remote control and remote diagnostics on its appliances as well as providing enhanced user experiences via recipe world and the BSH Home Connect App.
The Bosch connected appliance range including connected coffee machine, oven and fridge (including inside camera and inventory management), will be made available in Australia from April 2020.
Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions
No longer is there need for overhead cabling and infrastructure with Bosch Connected parking sensors. These sensors work both indoor and out and are easy to install and maintain with a 5 year battery life.
Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions (BCDS) offer a range of sensors for multiple applications from logistics tracking and automated factories, to XDK development kits for build-your-own IoT solutions.
Connected Manufacturing for Factories of the Future
By connecting sensors to manufacturing machinery, factories can adapt to customer requirements and learn independently at the same time. Connected machines can generate usage data and be controlled remotely via an Active Cockpit providing real-time analytics for optimal factory operations and preventative maintenance.
Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions (BAMS) design and develop special purpose machines for the Australian manufacturing industry and offer consulting services on Industry 4.0.
Smart Agriculture with sensor technology
Bosch is enabling the fourth industrial revolution in agriculture with sensing connectivity, data analytics and automation. Bosch smart agriculture solutions help to lower costs and increase agricultural yields by providing analytics to support on-farm decision making.
A connected and automated future of mobility
Bosch Australia is developing and testing state-of-the-art technology designed to improve safety on our roads having been granted the first permit to trial automated vehicle technology on public roads. The aim of the trial is to inform the Victorian Government of the infrastructure and legislation required to support a connected and automated future of mobility.
“Bosch is a proud leader in vehicle safety systems and is informing the market about ‘automated driving enablers’, the technology, infrastructure and legislation required to instil public confidence in automated driving,” said Gavin Smith.
