From Melbourne to Munich
Taking risks and being open to new experiences helped BSH (Bosch Home Appliances) employee Jonathan Peart make the move to relocate from Melbourne to Munich in September 2021.
Commencing at BSH home appliances in 2011 as Business Development Manager – Small Domestic Appliances (SDA), Jonathan was responsible for launching SDA into the Australian market.
He was instrumental in bringing the much-loved Cars & Coffee event to Clayton HQ back in June 2019. As a member of the Highball Car Club, Jonathan proposed the Bosch site as a suitable venue and managed the event until he departed Australia.
After ten years at BSH, and with support from leaders in Australia to pursue an international career, Jonathan was given the opportunity to relocate to BSH HQ in Munich. He is now International Key Account Manager, responsible for many countries in Region Europe and Region Emerging Markets, International customers including BSH’s No.1 global customer Euronics. Also part of Jonathan’s current role is managing international customer agreements and developing Residential Project Business.
A desire to develop his skillset and knowledge and take on greater responsibilities and challenges, were key factors for Jonathan’s move to Germany.
Jonathan says the best part of relocating is working with colleagues and customers from around the world and continually learning and developing. He joins an already diverse team with colleagues from Portugal, France, Turkey, Sweden, and Germany. Moving overseas has provided him with a greater knowledge and exposure to international customers and countries as well as BSH operations and strategy from a global and regional perspective.
The more knowledge and experience somebody can gain, the more they are equipped to deal with different circumstances and situations. The best ways to obtain this is by taking some risks and trying new things.
On a personal level, Jonathan is enjoying living in Munich and having access to explore Europe. In the past 12 months, he has travelled to the UK, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Serbia, Czech Republic and Hungary where he has attended many events with family and friends.
“I would encourage colleagues to pursue international opportunities for professional and personal development. Every other day you will be in another country meeting customers and colleagues where there are new experiences, opportunities, or challenges to address. Naturally, this move will have upskilled me significantly, which will in turn improve my possibilities of different roles or positions within the company.”
‘Where are they now?’ is a series featuring Bosch Australia and New Zealand employees who have relocated overseas, providing an insight into their experiences.
